About the translator
Marco Díaz's credentials include the American Translators Association (ATA) Certification from English into Spanish, the Specialized Certificate in Translation from the University of California San Diego Extension Program, specialized legal translation courses from Cálamo & Cran in Madrid, Spain, Academia Traducción Jurídica in Valladolid, Spain, and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Electrical from Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (Monterrey, Nuevo León, México).
He has more than four years of translation, editing, and proofreading experience. He has taught Spanish to non-native speakers for over eight years and been immersed in both Anglophone and Spanish-speaking countries for many years, which has allowed him to gain solid knowledge of Spanish and English grammar and understand the cultural nuances of both languages.
Marco is an active member of the American Translators Association (ATA), the National Association of Judiciary Interpreters and Translators (NAJIT), the Association of Translators and Interpreters in the San Diego Area (ATISDA), an associate member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI), and San Diego La Raza Lawyers Association (SDLRLA). He is also the Acting Assistant Administrator and webmaster of ATA’s Spanish Language Division (ATA SPD), and the Vice-president of ATISDA.
Marco Díaz is committed to continued education in order to strengthen and update his knowledge in his areas of specialization. When Marco is not translating or managing the business, he enjoys reading books, playing guitar, riding his bicycle, and hiking in the mountains or the desert.
